Odds of Getting In

This is the hardest part about becoming a corporate social responsibility manager: getting that first foot in the door at the very beginning. After graduating college (or a few months earlier, if you're smart), you'll start to go on interviews and have lunch meetings with CSR managers.

What are they looking for? The capacity to care—caring about the community, caring about the environment, and (most importantly) caring about the company that'll be signing your paycheck.

The key here is persistence. Keep sending out that résumé and meeting those supervisors. Eventually, someone will give you a chance. That is, of course, unless you're beginning all of your meetings with, "Hi, good to meet you, I think corporations are evil and I hope you all suffer."
