As Deryn Sharp knows only too well, there's no chance of anything sexy happening when you absolutely must keep all your clothes on all the time because if anyone sees what's under them you will lose your job, disgrace your family, be a laughingstock, and so on and so forth. The sexiest thing that happens in this whole book is when Deryn feels a little tingly after Alek gives her a friendly hug—a hug that he gives her, we might add, while thinking she's a boy. Her love life is rough.
