So Long, Farewell
Unfortunately for Madame St. Aubert, we don't get to see much of her in the book. She sure does love walking the chateau grounds with her husband and daughter before succumbing to a tragic illness. But Madame St. Aubert is about as different from her daughter as day is from night. Emily may look like Mom, but "the varied expression of her countenance" sets her apart from her more even-keeled mother.
