Perfect Chapter 36 Summary

Andre

  • Andre tells us about his first sexual encounter, with a seventeen-year-old neighbor girl in Oakland when he was fifteen.
  • Since then, he's had sex with the aforementioned private school girls, but Jenna puts them all to shame. Part of the reason for that is that he's actually in love with her.
  • They have a date tonight, and he's looking forward to getting busy. First, though, he has to spend the afternoon helping Liana teach a dance workshop to underprivileged kids.
  • Andre dances a solo, and when he's done, he realizes Shantell is clapping for him.
  • The two of them divide the kids between them and teach a class. Andre realizes he loves working with kids.
  • After class, Shantell tells Andre that she doesn't want her compliment to go to his head, but he's an awesome dancer.
  • She asks how long he's been training, and he says it's been a year; he started right after his family moved to Reno.
  • Shantell asks if he's going to turn pro, and he says his parents would never let him because if he's a dancer, he won't make enough money.
  • Shantell gets angry and says it's not about money and that he shouldn't choose to waste his talent.
  • Andre likes Shantell more every time he sees her.
  • Liana overhears their conversation and tells Andre he should go to L.A. to try out for a new television dance show next month.
  • That would mean coming out about being a dancer, and Andre's not sure he's ready. He tells Liana he'll think about it, and she says he needs to make a decision soon so they can work on choreography.
  • Andre drives home thinking about Shantell and dance. However, he's still obsessed with Jenna, who still hasn't said she loves him back.
  • They're going to a party, and he plans to tell her he's a dancer.
  • He picks her up, and she's already been drinking. He says he wants to tell her something, and she says she has to tell him something first: His mom thinks her sister is anorexic.
