Power
You're an assistant to nurses and doctors. Have you ever heard of an assistant with a lot of power? Have you ever seen The Devil Wears Prada? Assistants are rarely seen as important because their status is dwarfed by a superior, more powerful human being.
The fact is, you don't even have the power to provide any services beyond basic care. Everyone you work with has more qualifications in healthcare and you're just along for the ride, standing in the shadows of giants.
You do have the power to help out a sick, injured, or elderly person though. Making a difference to them means something. Even if it's a little something.
