Shelly Stalls is Juli's arch nemesis. And what exactly does Juli hate about Shelly? Just about everything. But the thing that really rubs Juli the wrong way is how dramatic and fake Shelly can be. Just check out the description Juli gives us:
Shelly Stalls is a ninny. A whiny, gossipy, backstabbing ninny who says one thing to one person and the opposite to another. Now that we're in junior high, she's the undisputed diva of drama, but even back in elementary school she knew how to put on a performance. (2.29)
Juli doesn't leave any room for debate—she thinks Shelly stinks and that's that. And things only get worse when Shelly bids on Bryce during the eighth grade Basket Boys auction and winds up in a food fight with another eighth grade girl. Yep—this girl has drama in the bag.
