Character Analysis
If you're looking for a hard-working mom, then look no further than Trina Baker. She's mama to Juli, Matt, and Mike, and she's got a great marriage with her hubby, Mr. Baker. All together they're a pretty happy family, and that has a lot to do with Mrs. B.
If there's one word that comes to mind when we think of Mrs. B, it's sensible… and that's probably because Juli calls her mom sensible a lot. As Juli says,
Sometimes it pays to have a sensible mother. (6.83)
Mrs. Baker is always making good choices, and she knows that the easy choice isn't always the best one. This lady is reasonable as all get-out and she's a super hard worker, too.
Plus Mrs. B wears a bunch of different hats in her neighborhood. We see her cooking pies and supporting her daughter's yard work with some lemonade; we learn that she takes as many secretarial jobs as she can; and she helps Juli deal with all the eggs that come from her growing hens. Oh—and Mrs. B is a good listener when Juli has boy troubles and a super friend when Mrs. Loski is going through some rough stuff. This lady is pretty great, right?
We're pretty sure we know where Juli gets her diligence and kindness from—just take a look at her mama.
