Jellicoe Road Chapter 15 Summary

  • Taylor floats on her back in the river, thinking about her mother and how she can vividly recall the first time she held Taylor as a baby. Which is kind of weird, but then again, Taylor doesn't exactly seem to be normal.
  • Everything's great until she notices Jonah Griggs. On the Jellicoe School's side of the river. In direct violation of the treaty. Oh uh-uh…
  • Taylor confronts Jonah, who's also accompanied by Anson Choi; they are swinging across the river on ropes and generally acting really suspicious.
  • This leads Taylor to only one conclusion: The Cadets are planning an invasion.
  • Taylor shares her concerns with Raffaela and Ben, and together they formulate a plot of their own to combat the invasion. It involves cow poop. Lots and lots of cow poop.
  • Here's the thing: The Cadets are city boys who lack the country-tastic knowledge the Jellicoe kids have from living out in the bush. Therefore, they aren't expecting to land in manure when they swing in across the river for their invasion.
  • Understandably, the Cadets are ticked—if it wasn't war before, it definitely is now.
  • For their next move, Taylor and the gang decide to invade the Cadets before they have another chance to strike back.
  • After the Cadets see them, they take off running through the bush with Jonah and his crew in hot pursuit.
  • Their plan is to make it to the Prayer Tree and climb up into the tree house. When they get there, they find that Santangelo and the Townies are already there and have pulled up the rope ladder. Oops.
  • As a way of getting to safety in the tree house, Taylor makes an agreement with Santangelo to talk about the Club House.
  • Now that they're on Jellicoe School property and safely in the tree house, it seems like everything's okay. At least until Jonah shows up with a paint roller and a bucket.
  • Jonah starts running the roller over the tree. Taylor assumes he's painting over the carvings and freaks out, jumping onto the ground and attacking him.
  • She notices too late that there's nothing in the bucket except water.
  • Jonah and Taylor call a truce and go up into the tree house for coffee and muffins. Yum.
