Jellicoe Road Chapter 27 Summary

  • For the next few weeks, Tate tells Taylor the stories of her family, urging her to write them down. Taylor mourns the fact that she's getting to know her mother just as she is about to lose her.
  • She continues to talk to Jonah on the phone, telling him about her mother and how Jude has moved in with Hannah.
  • One day, Jessa bursts into Hannah's house with the news that they've caught the serial killer. It wasn't anyone special, just a postman from Yass.
  • Taylor thinks of the postman who gave her and Jonah a ride three years ago, as well as Jonah's dream of his father telling him that if they didn't go home, they would never make it out alive.
  • Apparently, Jonah's dream was right, and if they'd done things differently, they would have ended up as entries in Jessa's serial killer scrapbook.
  • In Tate's final days, Taylor moves into the house. She continues to dream about Webb, but one night, the tree is empty and both he and Fitz are gone. She wakes up to find that her mother is dead and crawls into bed with Hannah and Jude.
  • They scatter Tate's ashes from the Prayer Tree along with Fitz's.
  • In the summer, Taylor, her friends, Hannah, and Jude go on a journey to the ocean, finishing the trip Hannah and Webb started all those years ago.
  • As they sit on the beach, Jessa asks Hannah if she thinks her parents, Tate's parents, Webb, Tate, and Jessa's parents are all together somewhere. Hannah says she wonders if they are.
