- Before you know it, morning has come and the orderlies find the hospital ward trashed. Everyone has passed out, including McMurphy who has fallen asleep.
- Nurse Ratched shows up and isn't impressed. But as always, she stays calm.
- She finds Mr. Turkle passed out in the nurses' station. Then she finds Billy Bibbit naked in bed with Candy. Billy comes running naked after her while the other patients applaud him.
- Billy says he can explain everything and starts laughing.
- Nurse Ratched tells him he should be ashamed of himself, but he says he has nothing to be ashamed of (which draws more applause).
- Ratched then plays the trump card, saying that she's worried about how Billy's mother will take the news of what happened.
- So Billy backs down and blames McMurphy for everything, saying that the guy dragged him into the bedroom to have sex with Candy.
- Nurse Ratched tells the orderly Mr. Washington to take Billy away to one of the doctors' offices. Billy is dragged away screaming.
- McMurphy takes the ring of keys and tries to open the hospital window to jump out. An orderly tries to stop him, but he punches the guy's lights out.
- Nurse Ratched calls more guards. McMurphy gets the window open just as Mr. Washington shows up, wrapping his fist in leather.
- At this moment, another nurse screams and comes out of the doctor's office covered in blood. Candy and Rose wait for McMurphy to jump out the window, but he hesitates because he doesn't know what's happened with Billy.
- The patients rush down the hallway and find Billy Bibbit dead from cutting his own throat with a piece of broken glass. McMurphy comes running in after Nurse Ratched and sees what's happened.
- After the doctor arrives, Nurse Ratched pushes everyone out and tells them to go on with their daily routine.
- This comment sets off McMurphy, who lunges at Ratched and tries to strangle her. But Mr. Washington hits McMurphy in the back of the head just in time to save Ratched's life.
