Wendy is a thirteen-year-old girl, so it's no huge surprise that she's a bit preoccupied with her changing body and is curious about sex. Throughout the book, Wendy muses about how her body looks and thinks about how grown-ups like her parents (yuck) have sex. She wonders what it's like.
Plus, even though Wendy and Amelia have made a pact not to lose their virginity until they're both seventeen, that doesn't mean they don't talk about sex and what it'll be like to have sex. Amelia even takes part in some sexual acts with her boyfriend Chief at one point (although the book keeps the details pretty vague). And when Wendy makes out with Todd on Christmas, she lets him touch her, er, boob a bit. Ooh la la.
