The Goblin

Character Analysis

On Midsummer Eve, this creature masquerades as a "tear-streaked toddler" (10.127) in order to trick Seth into opening the window—and once it gets inside, it transforms into "a leering gobbling with yellow slits for eyes, a puckered nose, and a face like dried cantaloupe" (10.138). It's got gangly arms and "hooked claws" (10.138), and its intentions for the kids are obviously not nice ones.
