Character Analysis
Hugo is a golem who stands nearly nine feet tall. According to Dale, he's made of "'Soil, clay, and stone […] Granted the semblance of life by a powerful enchanter'" (9.106). Dale compares him to a robot, saying he doesn't really think or feel—Hugo is pretty powerful though, and does a lot of the chores around Fablehaven. He isn't able to incapacitate Muriel when she's releasing Bahumat, though, and ends up turned to rubble—until the fairies restore him, that is.
