Hop to It, Kiddo
- As you might imagine, our story begins at the very beginning, which we here at Shmoop have been told is a very good place to start. Your child, it seems, has just closed one chapter in their life and is opening up a new one. It's time to find their own big adventure.
- You, of course, know that this isn't the very beginning. You've spent the past however many years preparing your child for this very moment. But your kid isn't focused on that right now, and nor is the kid in this book. They're stretching their legs and getting ready to meet their Destiny.
- Stop. Rhyme it out now. Notice the simple rhyme pattern Seuss establishes here right off the bat? This is a classic ABCB rhyme, with the second and fourth lines matching one another. Nice, simple, easy and launching us right off into our adventure.
- Speaking of which, let's stop for a moment and talk a little bit about CSI: Miami. Now, you probably don't let your child consume the CSI empire. But we would like to submit that, should there ever be a film version of Oh, the Places You'll Go!, this first stanza should look and sound something like the opening credits of the show.
- Go David Caruso, go! You examine that evidence while wearing sunglasses!
