How It All Goes Down
- Jeannette and Brian find a diamond ring. A real diamond ring. They take it to Mom, telling her to sell it for food and home repairs.
- Mom won't sell the ring. She keeps it to replace her own wedding ring, which Dad had pawned.
- So the family continues to starve, and the house continues to fall apart.
- Jeannette suggests to Mom that she divorce Dad.
- But Mom won't do it. She says it's against her religion. And plus, she's "an excitement addict" (3.14.32).
- Oh, go watch an action movie or two, Mom. Seriously.
