Magda Bronski

Character Analysis

Magda is Becca's friendly translator in Poland. She's a ray of sunshine during Becca's visit, which is otherwise filled with dark tales of genocide. "You are the most 'up' person I have ever met," Becca tells her at one point. (20.40) We definitely agree with Becca's assessment that Magda is "optimistic. Happy. Full of joy." (20.40 and 20.44)

Though she provides some much-needed comic relief, Magda's not terribly important to the plot or to Becca's travels, since almost everyone they encounter during their journey speaks English.
