Casablanca Scene 46 Summary

  • In Renault's office the next morning, Rick tells the Captain that he plans to leave on the last plane out of Casablanca tomorrow with Ilsa, and that the last person he'd want to run into in America would be Victor.
  • So, rather than hold him on a minor, trumped-up charge, he suggests that Renault release Victor, then arrest him when he's caught trying to get the letters of transit from Rick.
  • Then he can be charged as an accessory to the murder of the German couriers, which will put him away for good.
  • Wonder what it was that Ilsa fell for first—Rick's scheming abilities or his double-crossing tendencies?
