- As Serena, Sadonia, and Sister Lightsey watch Mother Barker make her way to Patience and Abby's house, they mull over how so many wasps got into the house.
- Serena points out that Patience's house is far too clean to house a nest inside, and Sadonia and Sister Lightsey agree the stinging swarm must have gotten in via a window.
- No matter how the wasps got in, though, one thing's for sure: Abyssinia is speaking again. Whoa. Serena quotes the Bible about this.
- Mother Barker tends to Abby's stings and as she does, Abby asks her lightning bugs and why they shine. Mother Barker explains that they shine because God made them shine and tells Abby they are one of the toys God gave children.
