Rocket Beaumont

Character Analysis

Rocket's other nickname could probably be Sparky, because this boy is electrified. No really—he can shoot electricity out of his fingers. Rocket's motto should be the same as Spiderman's, because he is the living embodiment of the slogan "with great power, comes great responsibility."

Rocket serves as a bit of a cautionary tale since he has had his savvy for four years and has not been able to scumble yet. Rocket is unable to control his emotions, which wouldn't normally be so bad… except for the fact that it causes him to create electrical storms and disturb anything that uses electricity. Check it out:

Crews were out trying to replace all of the broken red, yellow, and green glass, and the city was obviously still struggling to recover from Rocket's electric wake. (34.10)

In other words, when Rocket gets upset, whole cities stand to suffer. Bummer, right? Compare this to Fish's ability to scumble, and we can see that while Fish can now use his savvy in a constructive way, Rocket is pretty much stuck in destruction mode—and this reminds us that letting emotions take control can be a bad thing. They can hurt others, yourself… or the entire traffic system of a city.
