- Ambitioso and Supervacuo turn up to talk to the officers at the jail. They insist that Lussurioso, whom they call "our brother, the duke's son" (3.3.3), must be executed right away; the officers seem surprised, asking if it should be done so suddenly. Ambitioso asks that his brother may be allowed to die in private without being observed by the people, and the officer agrees. Ambitioso and Supervacuo pretend to be sad, but they celebrate when they're alone.
- Of course (drum roll) they don't know that Lussurioso has just been freed.
