Touching Spirit Bear Chapter 7 Summary

  • As it gets dark, Cole builds up the fire that he's made out of the shelter in order to keep warm. He also finds the at.óow that Garvey gave him, which is weird because he thought he threw it into the fire. Oh well—a good blanket will come in handy now.
  • He closes his eyes to figure out what to do next. When he opens them again, he sees Spirit Bear and starts yelling at him and brandishing his knife. The bear disappears, but Cole is totally prepared to attack him the next time.
  • Cole is still starving, so he goes to the shore and finds some seagulls pecking at a fish. He grabs the fishy and brings it back to the campsite to cook it over his fire and eat it. He eats as much as he can, since he'll need the energy to swim all the way to the next island.
  • Then Cole looks up and sees Spirit Bear again. This time he advances on the creature with his makeshift spear and knife. Even though he's scared, Cole refuses to back down—he doesn't want to be seen as a coward.
