- Still in the hospital, Violet's conferencing with the doctor. The rest of our gang is playing the target practice game again, exceptfor Link and Calista, who are having a private conversation. Titus speculates that they're going to hook up sometime soon.
- Violet comes back from the doctor looking "all intense" (15.3) and asking Titus to come check out a place she found.
- She takes Titus to a window overlooking a sort of courtyard or terrarium that's now dead, because the glass ceiling enclosing it is cracked, and all of the air is spurting out into space.
- Titus describes the dancing dead vines in the dead courtyard as "a squid in love with the sky" (15.9). Violet likes this image and comments that Titus is the only one of his friends who "uses metaphor" (15.11).
- They kiss for the first time overlooking the dead terrarium.
