Make Love Story!
- Briony hurries into the swamp thinking jealous thoughts about Eldric and Leanne studying together.
- The Boggy Mun will be out soon, so she rushes to catch him.
- She offers him her own blood and salt again—this time she says she wants to bargain.
- Here's the bargain she offers: She will get the men to turn off the swamp pump on All Hallows Eve if Boggy Mun will cure Rose of the swamp cough. She does not tell him, but she plans to get the ghosts to tell the men of the town themselves about Boggy Mun and the swamp cough.
- Here's the counter bargain: Rose and Tiddy Rex will get no worse until All Hallows Day. If Briony succeeds in getting the swamp draining to stop, everyone including Rose will be cured of the swamp cough.
- Briony agrees and leaves Boggy Mun while thinking of her latest plan. After bringing the ghosts to tell the town their story, Briony will escape into the swamp and hope to live.
- As she is heading out of the swamp, she sees the Bleeding Hearts (which are small and idiotic creatures) that keep asking her to make a story. These little creatures insist on her making a love story, however, and keep mentioning a pretty boy she laughs with. This, of course, makes Briony think of Eldric.
- Briony tries to get back to thinking of her plan, but the Dead Hand comes and attacks her hand. She is losing a battle to get her hand back (and listening to the crack and stretch of her wrist bones and skin… ew) when Eldric comes to her rescue.
- She is thinking of her hand being squeezed and the words of the Bleeding Hearts, "pretty girl love pretty boy" (19.113), when she loses consciousness.
