Chime Chapter 26 Summary

A Proper Punch

  • Briony visits Eldric's room. Finally she begins to admit (only to herself though) that she is feeling lustful feelings for Eldric.
  • He makes a pretty fitting joke about not having her sit on his bed, and has her sit by the fire. Either this guy doesn't return Briony's feelings, or he's an eternal gentleman.
  • When Briony spots a half written letter, Eldric quickly throws it into the fire and calls himself an idiot.
  • He doesn't explain the letter, but asks Briony to stay even though he is in a bad mood.
  • Briony asks Eldric to bring a gun to the feast of Halloween night, but doesn't explain why. What evil are you up to, Briony?
  • Dark Muse fun fact: A Dark Muse can only feed on the blood relative of her original host or she will die. This fun fact means Eldric turning Leanne down could put his father in danger, so Briony warns him.
  • They both tell each other they have something important to tell the other, and Eldric insists Briony go first.
  • When Briony tells him she is a witch, Eldric doesn't believe her and tells her to prove it. Briony tries to call up a fire, but is unable, so instead she tells him about hurting Rose as her proof. This doesn't convince Eldric either though, as he insists Briony loves Rose and wouldn't hurt her.
  • When Eldric suggests that maybe Briony's stepmother was the witch, Briony gets angry and they get into a verbal fight.
  • Briony punches him with her left hand, and he laughs at what a good punch she got in.
  • She asks what he was going to tell her, and he says maybe another time.
  • Briony backs out of his room thinking that after Hallows eve she will be off to London and never see him again.
