Awkwardissimus
- Briony and Eldric meet to practice unpredictable boxing. While marveling at how little effort Eldric is putting forth, Briony fights off feelings of love for him and strips off layers of clothing as she becomes hot. She says she's hot from the exercise, not with attraction to Eldric, but we're thinking it's a little of both.
- When they stop fighting, Briony becomes cold. When she mentions that all of her clothes are wet Eldric holds up his coat for her to change behind and promises not to look. What a gentleman.
- Now Briony is wearing just her blouse, which she describes as being better than nothing but close to it. Eldric wraps his coat around her, making sure not to touch her.
- Their walk home becomes increasingly awkward with Briony thinking of their kiss and Eldric silent; to break the silence Briony says "'Awkwardissimus!'" and Eldric agrees.
- Back in town, Mad Tom is telling Leanne she stole his wits and asking her to give them back. When Eldric sees her Briony wonders if his look is one of love.
- Leanne asks Eldric to rid her of Mad Tom. While he walks him away, she makes small talk with Briony—for some reason, the smell of Leanne reminds her of Stepmother before she was sick.
- When Mad Tom returns, Leanne plays damsel in distress again (did we mention how annoying she can be?) and suggests she walk away with Eldric this time.
- Eldric says he has dinner plans with Briony, which Briony recognizes as a lie and happily wonders if he doesn't want to be alone with Leanne.
- Still, he ends up walking her away with a promise to be right back.
- After waiting for what probably feels like forever, Briony goes off to find Eldric, only to catch him kissing Leanne in an alley. Upset, Briony returns to the bridge and feels stupid for waiting for him.
- Mucky Face calls to Briony to warn her that a powerful Old One was calling him to crash onto her. She commands him to stop and he begs her to try harder as he rises as a great wave above her. When she finally succeeds in making Mucky Face return to the river, Eldric is beside her waiting for her to explain herself.
