Flora and Ulysses Chapter 12 Summary

The Forces of Evil

  • After dinner, Flora finds Ulysses asleep on her pillow.
  • She picks him up and puts him at the foot of the bed while she pictures the words, "A SUPERHERO SQUIRREL RESTED AT HER FEET, AND SO SHE WAS NOT LONELY AT ALL" on her ceiling.
  • She thinks about how her dad used to read Incandesto! to her before her parents were divorced. Now he lives in an apartment so he can't.
  • Flora thinks about how her dad would do all the voices when he read the story aloud, and that made it more fun to hear.
  • She imagines writing her own comic book story with Ulysses as the superhero; instead of Alfred slipping and gaining powers, it would talk about the squirrel getting sucked up and then gaining super strength.
  • Excited by the possibility, Flora reminds herself to observe instead of getting her hopes up.
