The detail McBride gives to the world of these characters is one element that makes the setting and characters so believable, even in the midst of being completely fantastical as well. After all, who knew that werewolves had a hierarchy that doesn't necessarily stem from physical strength, or that vampires are seriously misrepresented in literature? Not us, that's for sure.
