Jumped Chapter 11 Summary

Honking Like a Goose

  • Leticia is trying to pronounce stuff in French class for her teacher, who won't leave her alone, no matter how much Leticia tries to annoy her.
  • Leticia passes the blame for taking French to other people, when it's really her own fault for not requesting a class change on time.
  • She thinks that the Spanish-speaking kids should take extra English, freeing up a spot in Spanish for her, but what she really wants is an easy grade.
  • French, for Leticia, is tricky. In fact, she thinks that she knows why Germany invaded France during WWII: "France thought she was cute with all her invisible consonants and invisible lines, and Germany was trying to keep things real" (11.16). Pro tip: Don't write that in a paper, Shmoopers.
