Pudd'nhead Wilson Chapter 6: Swimming in Glory Summary

  • It's the morning after the big arrival of the twins. Aunt Patsy has breakfast with the duo and learns their whole life story.
  • Aunt Patsy's housekeeper (er, slave) Nancy interrupts the good time to let her know that there's a bunch of townspeople outside eager to come in and meet the twins.
  • Patsy and Rowena let the people into the house and introduce them to the twins.
  • The natives of Dawson's Landing are so awestruck by the twins that they're nervous and stumbling over their words. These are exotic Italians, after all! But the twins are friendly and get along well with everyone.
  • Patsy and Rowena are totally stoked that everyone is admiring their visitors.
  • Upon realizing that the afternoon is drawing to a close, Rowena feels a little bummed. She thinks how great it would be if the twins could do "some crowning act" to top off the visit.
  • Looks like they read her mind. The next thing Rowena knows, the twins sit down to Patsy's piano and bang out a magnificent duet.
  • Everyone is thrilled.
