The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Chapter 22 Summary

  • Epigraph: "All Moanday. Tearday. Wailsday. Thumpsday. Frightday. Shatterday."—James Joyce
  • It's morning in Greece, and uninspired to tackle the day, Lena lies in her bed.
  • Effie comes in, talking about her make out session the night before. She asks about a picture Lena drew of Kostos, and then tells her sister she's in love with him.
  • Lena worries that he doesn't feel the same way about her, but Effie tells her big sister to stop being a coward and just tell Kostos how she feels.
  • The morning nurse is annoyed that Tibby spent the night in Bailey's room, drooling on Bailey's pillow.
  • Bailey notices that Tibby is wearing the Pants.
  • Tibby tells Bailey that Mimi died (though she leaves out the tiny detail about the corpse chillin' in the family freezer).
  • Bailey reminds Tibby it's time to go to work, and Tibby assures her that she will be back.
  • Leaving the hospital, Tibby meets Carmen in the lobby because she needs the Pants. Carmen gives Tibby a pair of her flares to wear—these pants don't fit Tibby at all, though the pants somehow fit both girls just fine. It's a head scratcher.
  • Carmen hops on a plane, and shows up at her father's wedding wearing the Pants; when she sees her dad, he smiles.
  • After dinner, Eric asks Bridget to take a walk, and as they meander Eric talks while Bridget listens.
  • He realizes she is inexperienced with guys, and says she is young for sixteen—which makes sense, you know, because she's actually fifteen. Yikes.
  • Eric tells Bridget maybe they can date when she is older, but for some reason, this doesn't make Bridget feel better.
