The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Chapter 9 Summary

  • Epigraph: "Sometimes you're the windshield: sometimes you're the bug."—Mark Knopfler
  • Carmen watches Krista struggle with geometry—she isn't going to help her because she doesn't like her, even though Geometry is her thing.
  • Instead she heads off to play tennis with her dad; later she writes to Bee, and takes pride over making Skeletor jealous.
  • Back at Wallman's, Bailey has returned—again, she and Tibby exchange friendly jabs. Wanna hangout? The girls grab brownies and ice cream (nom nom), and Tibby talks about her suckumentary.
  • Bailey has two conversation rules: don't lie and don't ask how she is feeling. Sounds easy enough.
  • Tibby spots Tucker Rowe, her ultimate crush. Bailey doesn't approve though, and tells Tibby she will someday show her what a really cute boy looks like—Tibby wonders if they will spend enough time together for that to ever happen.
  • Back to Bridget, who wants to go to the coach's bar to see Eric, so it's time for a little bicycle trip.
  • At the club, Bridget salsas on the dance floor—and after a few margaritas, the coaches do too.
  • Bridget is delighted to feel Eric push his lips to her ears, but then he whispers, "we can't do this" (9.95). Too bad.
  • Over in Greece, Bapi is reeling from the thought of Kostos stalking Lena, so he goes to Kostos's house and punches his grandfather in the nose. Ouchy.
  • Bee writes her father a letter: Send more clothes.
