The Sixth Sense Scene 34 Summary

  • At school, the teacher from the "Stuttering Stanley" incident, Mr. Cunningham, comes to get Cole.
  • He can tell that Cole's been talking to someone (and we know it was a ghost, natch), but Cole pretends that he was just practicing his lines.
  • He thanks Mr. Cunningham for giving him "the part." Hmm, what part?
  • Ah, we see now: Cole's in another school play, playing the hero who seizes the sword from the stone. The cough syrup kid is playing the village idiot.
  • Malcolm watches from the audience. This guy is like the most involved psychologist ever.
  • At least in the play, Cole's classmates hail him. It feels nice, after watching him get bullied for the entire movie.
  • Afterwards, Cole and Malcolm walk together, and Cole suggests that Malcolm try talking to his wife when she's asleep. That way, he thinks, she'll listen without even knowing it.
  • Cole remarks that they probably aren't going to see each other anymore (hmm, wonder why that is?), and Malcolm agrees that they both need to start talking to the people closest to them.
  • Malcolm leaves.
