Hahp Malek Timeline and Summary

Hahp's parents drop him off at wizard school, which turns out to be a really crummy place.
Hahp is paired with another boy (who he nicknames Fishboy, until learning that his name is Gerrard) as roommates.
They start to learn breathing and meditation techniques from an old dude named Franklin, while another old dude, Somiss, constantly tells them not to help each other.
Hahp starves along with the other boys until Franklin shows them how to make food, and Hahp manages to create apples out of thin air. He's also the first one to catch on to making other kinds of food, as well as soap.
When Hahp makes soap in order to get fully clean, he's given a different color robe… and a test. He has to use his magic to escape from a deadly snake by pushing his thoughts into it, and he succeeds.
Hahp and Gerrard help each other out in tiny ways, but they're both so focused on their own survival that they don't do much of it.
The tests continue, and Somiss starts another round of starvation to "motivate" the boys to memorize some ancient rhymes.
Finally Hahp tells Gerrard how much he hates the wizards, and Gerrard totally agrees. They make a secret pact to help each survive—so that they can take revenge on the wizards.
