This fellow buys milk from the goats that Micah and his dad are raising. His wife in turn makes cheese; she "clabbered, salted, and pressed the cheese that half the folks in Ferne ate" (5.14). Arrangements like this help keep Micah and Sadima's family afloat, because it can be hard to make ends meet when you're a farmer.
