Farmer with Eggs

Character Analysis

This is a farmer whom Steinbeck meets while traveling in New England. He asks to camp on the farmer's land by the stream, and the farmer agrees. Steinbeck invites the farmer into Rocinante for a drink, and they talk about current events (with some vague references to the threat of nuclear war). He's one of many people in the book who have nukes and the Cold War on the brain.
