Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet Chapter 34 Summary

Steps (1986)

  • After dinner, Henry does the dishes. When he's done, he sees that Samantha is already asleep on the couch.
  • He finds Marty outside and his son says that this year has been a tough one for him. He also asks Henry if he kept Ethel at home in her last few months in order to spite Marty.
  • Henry says he didn't, and Marty admits that he can see Henry's reasoning now—it's important to be at home sometimes.
  • Then he asks how much Ethel knew about Keiko. Henry says she didn't know much more than that Keiko existed.
  • He's been a loyal and dedicated husband all of these years, but now he's thinking about Keiko again. No harm, no foul, Henry.
