Midwinterblood Part 6, Chapter 4 Summary

  • Now that all the Vikings are back, it's time to have a big feast. Nom nom.
  • But, even though it's a good time, Melle can tell something is up with their dad. Of course, when she asked Eirik about it earlier, he didn't have a clue; he's more brawn than brains.
  • After a moment, their father stood up to toast the men they lost on their voyage, but weirdly enough, no one mentioned Tor.
  • Their father instructed Leif Longfoot—the village poet—to regale everyone with tales from their trip and the awesome things they had done. He began and everyone listened attentively. Well, everyone but Tor.
  • Tor got up from his seat and walked around the hall. Now who's being rude? Finally, he stopped behind Eirik and Melle. Then he started to rub his hands through their hair.
  • When the poem was over their father stood up. Just what the heck do you think you're doing, Tor?
  • "These children," he told the entire room, "are mine."
