Character Analysis

Kostos is the dreamboat of Caldera, a "very, very handsome" young man who is a soccer star. He's not all beauty and brawn, though, and he brings the brains too—he's so smart, in fact, that he's headed for the London School of Economics. Sadly, his brother and parents died when he was  young—but raised by the Caldera grandmothers, he continues to be a "huge source of pleasure in Grandma's life" (14.41). We can totally see why.

Kostos is quite smitten with Lena, though he instantly changes his mind when she slanders his reputation—he may have thought Lena was good looking, but he's no stalker. When Lena finally apologies though, he easily forgives her, then seals the deal with a kiss that knocks her socks off.
