- Knowing that they have to act fast, the Goonies shove the stiff back into the freezer and close the door, not realizing they've trapped Chunk in there with it.

- The other Goonies can't very well trot back upstairs and risk running into the Fratellis, so there's only one way to go—down.
- One by one, they lower themselves through the opening in the fireplace and into the tunnel below.
- The Fratellis may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer, but they know when they see a broken water cooler that someone must have been in that room before them.
- Fortunately, they assume it must be that creature they had chained to the wall, so all three of them go to check on it.
- After the Fratellis are out of sight, Chunk lets himself out of the freezer. His "friends"—only their heads in view from below the fireplace—urge him to go tell the police.
- Right.
- Because he's best one in the gang to see that mission through to fruition.
- He does, however, manage to get outside by squeezing through a window, so…good on him.
