This Boy's Life Part 4, Chapter 6 Summary

  • Jack likes to go through people's things at home. One day, she finds a letter from his uncle Stephen to his mom. He copies the address down and writes a letter to Stephen, begging him to help them.
  • Mom catches him and asks why he wrote Uncle Stephen.
  • She shows him a letter from Stephen. He says he can't help, but that he'd love to let Jack come and live with him in Paris until Jack's mom can get away. He also sent a check.
  • Dwight loves the idea of sending Jack away. Because Dwight is a jerk.
  • Jack is supposed to leave after he finishes the seventh grade, but then Stephen writes back with a new idea: he and his wife will adopt Jack. That way, he can stay in Paris for five years instead of just one.
  • Jack is not keen on being adopted, but his mom thinks it's very generous and Dwight is practically packing Jack's bags.
  • Jack finally decides not to go. He's too loyal to his mother to not be her son. Dwight flips out, but Jack and his mom stand firm. He gives up an escape in order to stay his mother's son.
