Character Analysis
Lenehan appeared earlier in Joyce's work, as a character in the Dubliners story "Two Gallants." Here, he comes off as something of a simpleton. He cracks jokes amongst the men, and follows Boylan around, but no one pays him much mind. Lenehan also seems to have it in for Bloom. He mocks his stiff walk in the "Aeolus" episode, and later he claims to have groped Molly in a carriage while Bloom was sitting just across the way looking out at the stars. In almost all gatherings, he is one of the rowdiest of the men, but also one of the most ignored.
