AMVETS National Americanism Essay Contest

Who's Eligible: Grades 6 – 12 (there are other contests for Grades K – 6)

Award Amount: Up to $500

Due Date: April 30

Each year, American Veterans offers an essay contest designed to get students thinking about what patriotism and nationalism mean to them. Grade levels are judged individually so you will never be pitted against your little brother, and each grade level has its own maximum word count. Instead of traditional scholarships, winners are awarded Visa gift cards (except for 9th graders). 1st place high school freshmen win an all expense paid trip to the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
