- Leo is outside of an apartment, gun in hand. He knocks on the door, which is opened by Doctor Tyapkin—the man who Leo met in the morgue.
- Tyapkin has heard about the arrests and has been staying home from work. He admits that he paid the kid, though he claims that he "didn't have sex with him" (3.28.21).
- Before they can lead him out of the apartment, however, Tyapkin inserts a syringe into his arm and collapses, dead.
