Entwined Theme of Duty

Duty comes in many shapes and sizes in Entwined. As the eldest child in the royal family, Azalea is all too familiar with duty: she's obligated to marry someone who'll be a good king, she must behave properly at all times since her actions reflect back on her family, and oh yeah, she's got to be a dutiful big sister and watch out for all her younger siblings. We're going to go out on a limb and suggest that this is one reason why Azalea is so fond of dancing: it represents an escape from duty, a time when she can be free to move and spin and enjoy the moment.

She's not the only character bogged down by duty, though; Mr. Bradford is expected to run for parliament to fulfill his duty to his nation, and the King is pretty much always on Royal Business of some kind or another. All these duties are starting to sound like a real drag… hey, who wants to go dancing?

Chew on This

Try on an opinion or two, start a debate, or play the devil’s advocate.

Azalea actually does a pretty good job of juggling the duties she's inherited as firstborn to the royal family.

For someone like the King, duty isn't too much of a burden when it's something you believe is important.
