Pamela Chapter 40 Summary

Tuesday and Wednesday

  • When Mr. Williams visits, Pamela takes advantage of a moment when Mrs. Jewkes's back is turned to arrange a hiding place (between two tiles near a sunflower) where she and the parson can exchange notes.
  • She describes more troubling interactions with Mrs. Jewkes, whose morals seem pretty out of whack.
  • Also, we find out that she was able to write and hide a note to Mr. Williams, begging for his help.
