- Mace Windu and a small contingent arrive in Palpatine's office to arrest him.

- Mace and Palpatine duel viciously until they break his large picture window, and Mace disarms the Chancellor.
- Mace is holding Palpatine at lightsaber-point, telling him he's under arrest, when Anakin storms in.
- Palpatine acts like a weak old man, making it look like Mace has bullied him into the position he's in.
- They both try to convince Anakin that the other is a traitor.
- Palpatine is shooting lightning bolts from his fingertips, and Mace is deflecting them back at him in a stalemate of sorts, but it's causing Palpatine's face to get deformed and melted.
- Palpatine begs Anakin to help him.
- Mace threatens to end it once and for all, but Anakin insists the Chancellor needs to stand trial, not die. (He needs him to save Padmé, after all.)
- When Mace goes to make a killing blow, Anakin cuts off his hand with his lightsaber. Palpatine takes advantage of his distraction to hit Mace with his fingertip lightning bolts until he falls from the window to his death.
