- The foul odor of the dungeons doesn't bother Mig because her nose doesn't work too well either—sometimes Uncle used to give her a clout to the nose.
- To distract herself from the dark, Mig sings a song about how someday she'll become the princess.
- There are tons of ominous sounds that terrify people when they enter the dungeons, but Mig doesn't hear any of them… so she isn't scared.
- As she waits for the jailer to show up, she stares up in wonder at the giant tower of soup bowls, spoons, and kettles.
- That's when Gregory the jailer steps out of the darkness and approaches her.
