The Tale of Despereaux Chapter 32 Summary

Beware of the Rats

  • Mig holds up her candle and sees Gregory coming toward her with a rope tied around his ankle. He asks her if there's soup, and she says of course not—soup has been outlawed. Gregory thinks this is ridiculous.
  • She watches as Gregory picks up a drumstick from the tray and eats it, bones and all. He's a pretty ferocious man.
  • Then she tells him that she wants to be a princess someday. Upon hearing this news, the rat Roscuro starts doing a happy jig.
  • When Gregory's done eating, he hands back the tray and tells Mig that she must beware of rats. Roscuro remains in the shadows, continuing to plot his revenge against Princess Pea.
