Kill 'Em Even if They's Already Dead
- Here we are, in "Book the Fourth: Recalled to the Light."
- Despereaux is on that tray because Gregory deliberately wrapped him in the napkin and whispered for him to go back to the light.
- When Mig gets back up to the kitchen, Despereaux falls from the tray and into a measuring cup of oil. The cook spots him and tells Mig to kill him at once.
- Mig grabs a knife and picks up the mouse, but he's covered with oil and so she drops him to the ground. She's pretty sure that the drop has killed him.
- But the mouse gets up, and Mig tries to stab him with the knife. She manages to get his tail, but Despereaux still gets away. Talk about a close call.
