Some Soup
- Instead of moving along, Despereaux remains in the kitchen and sniffs at the air, obviously enchanted by the scent of the soup.
- The cook notices and lets him taste the soup, which happens to be the very same soup that she made for the queen on the day that she died. He says that it's perfect.
- She offers him more soup, but Despereaux says that he's busy—he has to go and save the princess, after all.
- The cook holds open the door to the dungeons and wishes Despereaux luck on his quest.
